Mmmmm babies

Being the oldest of four siblings, the smell of infants is one that I have become familiar with. Although I have not encountered it often in recent years (My youngest sister is almost eleven), I definitely still associate it with a sense of protectiveness and care for my brother and sisters. Infants have that kind of fresh scent that smells like laundry detergent mixed with spit.

Speaking of smells and growing up, here’s a clip from a show we all loved watching with my dad growing up.

  1. Haha, I loved your video on Everybody Loves Raymond! What is that smell?

Anyway, that's cool that you connect babies with the sense of protection and care. Do you think if you smelled a baby now that it would still bring that memory up or do you think it is just associated with your younger siblings?

It is also interesting that you brought up the smell of babies, because that reminds me of last year. My roommate and I always teased my other roommate about how she smelled like babies, because of the lotion she used. (Johnson and Johnson.) But in reality the smell is so good?

  2. First, nice title. I really think its cool how you associate the smell of babies with protectiveness and care for your siblings. And I love the line about how babies smell fresh like laundry detergent and spit, definitely LOL'd. And the addition of the Everybody Loves Raymond was great! not only a smart strategy to attain the readers interest but also very funny.

  3. I can definitely relate to this completely. I have a 10 year old brother and when he was a baby I spent a lot of time with him. I remember he always smelled like formula and baby lotion. I loved smelling his head because it smelled like nothing else I'd ever smelled. It's what I would imagine purity to smell like if it were tangible.
I really like how you described it and also associated it with protection.

  4. I like the use of video too, Zane. And I dig the laundry detergent and spit line. But other than that, there's not much to this. Double these.

Also, your posts are coming in a little late, which might throw off blog commenting.
